The president would then travel to Caswell Air Force Base to get on Air Force bound for Love Field in Dallas. The president and his wife then were placed in the third row of a convertible limo that was shipped from D.C. to Dallas on Air Force One, with Governor Connally and his wife in the second row.6 The second car consisted of Vice President Johnson and his wife. The motorcade then took the ten mile trip towards the Trade Mart for the president’s speech. At around 12:30 PM, the presidential motorcade turns off Houston on to Elm going towards Dealey Plaza. Many supporters of President Kennedy were positioned along the streets with cameras to film the historic event.7 One man, Abraham Zapruder, used his 9mm camera to film the entire assassination as the motorcade passed the Texas School Book Depository. Dealey Plaza had three roads that converged under an overpass to get on a freeway.8 As the president passed the Texas School Book Depository, three shots rang out and hit three victims: James Tauge, who was a bystander that sustained injuries to the face from where a bullet hit the curb, Governor Connally, who had injuries to the chest and thigh, and President Kennedy, who was hit in the back, neck, and head.
