The Articles of Confederation were written by John Dickinson under the decisions of the Second Constitutional Congress in 1777 in order to unite all thirteen colonies in rebelling from Great Britain. This is a primary document as Dickinson was present during the drafting of the Articles. There are a total of 13 articles. The majority of the colonies had their own constitution, which was not a sign of unison. The delegates at the convention decided on various issues. The Articles provided a weaker central government, as people were wary of a monarchy creeping its way to the colonies.
