Have you ever wondered who to thank for your auto-steer tractor? Some farmers today and people in general take the modern conveniences that we have today for granted and have no idea where the technology originated from. The farmers we need to try to be more like are the ones that their ultimate goal of farming is not growing crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings. The man to thank for some of the farming conveniences we have today is John Deere, he Created the plow, revolutionized the way we farm, made a million dollar company out of an invention, and it is even a fact that he helped with war efforts. John Deere is what many would call a “Simple Man” or a “Good Ol Boy”. He was born in Rutland, Vermont, on February 7, 1804 and died on may 17, 1886 in his home. before John Deere invented the polished steel plow. The article “ The Impact Of John Deere’s Plow” says it took farmers ninety six hours to plow one acre. This time was not uncommon in that day and age, most farmers had to do almost everything by hand, as a result they were only able to produce enough food for their families. Thanks to John Deere we now have popular tractors and combines that are able to perform more than one task and decrease the time it takes to do even the simplest of task. With the plow being created farmers were able to take on new jobs in their communities, because they could now feed more than their families. The company is still making breakthroughs even in todays society by helping the people that fuel this land with hard work and a little elbow grease, by putting lights on equipment because they know that farmers are very persistent people and just because they sun goes down doesn't mean we are gonna quit. when the work has to be done we will always be there to do it, with help from the John Deere
