Between a pair of aviators, a beret and tied hair, I tried to keep my appearance nondescript, as I arrived early at the Barnes and Nobles, seated at the Starbucks cafe with a warm cup of coffee with one of my favorite mythology books reading. Just as I had lost myself in the story of Horus, that I prized reading every lunch period during high school in the library, the same voice from the phone greeted me.
“It is nice to finally get a chance to meet you. You are even more beautiful in person. You have my hair and eyes, but you are hiding them with your little disguise.” He looked to be in his late forties with neatly styled straight black hair, dark almond eyes, and a dark beige complexion. I inherited my darker skin tone from my mother while my brother shared a similar complexion with my father. He wore a black sweater and dark corduroy pants. “Thank you, you look pretty good yourself.”
“You can call me dad, whenever you feel comfortable.”
"I really don't know where to start." I said, fiddling with my stir stick.
"I brought you a present." He said, reaching under the table pulling out a stuffed rabbit. I am not really sure what you like, and I know you are a little old for it, but I figured what could go wrong with a stuffed animal?" He chuckled.
