John Carroll Personal Statement

Decent Essays
I come from Norwalk, OH which is a small-town west of Cleveland. I went to St. Paul high school, so I have been in the Jesuit school system my whole life. That helped me choose John Carroll along with the awesome business school. Ever since I was 16, I knew I would choose accounting as my major and it has paid off. John Carroll has provided me with an awesome education and I can say that I picked the right school!

I am going into my junior year and I have had many great experiences. This past Fall semester, I was involved in the audit campus challenge and my team traveled to Chicago to compete against many Big 10 schools. Through that experience, I was able to network with Deloitte professionals. I was also elected Vice President of Finance

In the 10th grade I joined the Farm Business Management career development team. Although it says Farm Business Management it is more just general business management. From the team I have learned about accounting, the economy, and about making smart business decisions. Which is all reasons why I got so involved and passionate about it, and happily for me, that passion earned me the title of High Point Individual in the state.…

It is an exciting time for the Minnesota Timberwolves, with the additions of Jimmy Butler, Jamal Crawford, Taj Gibson and Jeff Teague in the offseason and these new arrivals have brought a renewed buzz and excitement to the Timberwolves fan base and I believe that I could help the Action Pack team to help build off that excitement to help a create an unforgettable game day experience at the Target Center. I show leadership, service, or scholarship character every day at school and home with all my sisters. But there are many events, where I show service more. For example, I help Ms. Soto with the PTA meetings that the school has, I also take care of her son Aaron whenever she has an important meeting to attend. I'm willing to give up my personal time to take care of Aaron because I feel like if I see anyone needing to help I should to help them in any way I can. It's something inside of me that wakes up and tells me " go help ", " they need your help, go to see what you can do."…

Great job on your suggestions for John's goal. For EM physicians, it can sometimes be difficulty to spend time with each and every patient. Either if it is Wednesday or Sunday, varieties of religion have service to give value to the purpose of the religion. In Sean Carroll’s “The Meaning of Life”, he states, “Most people who turn to religious beliefs do not do so because they think it provides the best theory of cosmology or biology. They turn to religious beliefs because it provides them with purpose and meaning in their lives, with a sense of right and wrong, with a community, with hope.” Religion, by itself, has its own influence on the population, on how people think, their train of thought, and what they do in life. When I tell someone that I am Buddhist, I get a reaction that I do not expect.…

The ideal college for me to attend would be Temple University’s School of Media and Communication, located in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. This is an ideal college for me, because after college, I hope to pursue a career in Sports Broadcasting, hopefully with a team in the Philadelphia area. Going to Temple is important to me because my siblings and father both attended Temple University. Temple is my preferred school at the moment, because I’m currently there about twice a week attending sporting events. Temple’s atmosphere and school spirit has grown on me over the years.…

Lewis Carroll's “Jabberwocky”, to put it simply, is complete and utter nonsense. It features in Carroll’s novel, Through the Looking Glass, and is approximately seventy-five percent completely made up words. Even Alice, the main character of the book, is bewildered by it saying, “"It seems very pretty," she said when she had finished it, "but it's rather hard to understand!" (You see she didn't like to confess, even to herself, that she couldn't make it out at all.)” (Carroll 64).…

I first came across Oberlin as I was searching through various private liberal arts colleges. Oberlin especially caught my eye because of the conservatory attached to it; being in close contact with this sort of musical environment is very exciting to me. I am looking to go to a college that will provide academic and artistic stimulation, and Oberlin stands out as one of the colleges to best foster my ambitions. The care that Oberlin gives their students when it comes to affordability also caught my eye; this dedication in providing financial aid to students tells me that Oberlin greatly values the students they accept, and offers a caring, comfortable environment.…

In 'Moderate Moralism', Carroll (1996) argues that artistic autonomy does not preclude a moral approach to artworks. That is, unlike autonomism, which holds that aesthetic evaluations of artworks are always autonomous from moral components, some works of art trade in moral emotions as part of their aesthetic form. In this analysis I will briefly explain Carroll's argument, which focuses on narrative artworks, and is contrasted with autonomism in both its radical and moderate forms. Although Carroll easily dispatches with radical autonomism, his moderate moralist approach does not adequately deal with moderate autonomism, which ultimately, I consider to be a better position. Carroll asserts that some types of artworks, particularly narratives, are aesthetically evaluable in terms of morality.…

I recently read a memorable bit of data that emphasizes the importance of working in a career that provides purpose and satisfaction; between the ages of 20 and 65, an average individual, working a forty-hour work week with two weeks vacation per year, will devote over 90,000 hours to their profession. My decision to apply to the Master of Arts program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology is a result of my personal mission to find a career path that engages my interests, employs my skills and talents and provides a sense of satisfaction for 90,000 hours or more. In the spring of 2013, I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Science. Shortly thereafter, I began working for Teachers Insurance Annuity…
