John Cabot was an Italian explorer that sailed for England. In 1498 he took his second voyage to the New World with a fleet of 5 ships. He and his crew of 200 men went to find a new route to Asia that was faster than Columbus’s route. King Henry VII funded his voyage and later in time, it wasn’t enough. Later that year, the expedition reached the New World. He reached Canada, thinking it was Asia.
