The life of John Brown. John Brown was born in May 9th, 1800 in Torrington Connecticut. When John Brown was five they moved to northern Ohio. This is where he spent most of his boyhood in Ohio. Ever since he was a little till he was an old man he would travel and move to places all over the north. These places consisted of Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New York. He was a hero in the north, but known as a crazy man in the south. John Brown in the underground railroad was useful person and wasn 't afraid to die for his convictions to help free blacks from slavery in America. African Americans considered him as a hero for how he helped them when they became free or when he tried to free them. In my opinion John brown is an important character in the civil war and important in the Underground Railroad. In his raids he showed how much he wanted to abolish slavery in the United States Of America. If he didn 't do these actions I think the Civil War would be delayed for another year.
