John C. Breckinridge is best known for being the 14th vice president of the united states. He is not known for what he contributed to the civil war. Both of the things he did are very important. From helping the president make decisions, to fighting as a general with the confederate army. John was also appointed to secretary of war by Jefferson Davis.
