Bruno, the boy with a ‘hopeless case’ sister, doesn’t even have a clue. Bruno, only being nine years old, doesn’t know what is happening around him. In The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, it was bad that Bruno was naive about the Holocaust throughout the novel. It was bad Bruno was naive because, he didn’t know a thing or two about the Holocaust, and he created a ton of chaos in the family house. If he never didn’t do that, he would of lived a longer and better life.…

The extraordinary novel “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas”, written by the Irish author, John Boyne, was a sentimental and thought-provoking story, which was truly engaging to the readers, and was one of the most horrific novels I have ever read. Through the eyes of a young boy, Bruno, we are told the story of a haunting event frozen in history, that I feel thoroughly teaches the readers about the true horrors of the Holocaust, and the valuable lesson of treating others the way you want to be treated, no matter their race of belief. I feel this novel has opened up my eyes to the seriousness of inequality in both the past and present, and has also made me reconsider my actions and perspective on the topic.…

    1. In the film, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, the concepts of person perception, cultural and personal identities and persuasive qualities are demonstrated through Bruno and Shmuel’s friendship. We can see person perception through the two boys because at their age to each other the other is just another boy their age that they can play with in a place where they are all alone. They have none of the prejudices or assumptions about each other that those older than them would have casted on each other. Cultural and personal identity is seen through Bruno wanting to be just like his father when he is pretending to be one of the German fighter planes with his friend.…
