The Billingtons were known as the troublemakers on the Mayflower. Francis Billington (John Billington’s son) almost sank the Mayflower when he fired his father’s musket near the uncovered barrel of gunpowder and set fire to their cabin. John Billington started causing problems after the Mayflower landed in September 1620. John, after signing the Mayflower Compact, started to avoid society controlled by anti-Anglican religious separatists.
