John Adams Switching Sides

John Adams is now a patriot that is a lawyer, and writer for the colonists. He first wrote for the newspaper to have dissertation about Canon and Feudal Law. Then he wrote for protests. Adams began to defend the colonists and started to become a patriot. He was married to Abigail Adams from 1764 to 1818. With her he had two children, John Quincy Adams and Abigail Adams Smith. John Adams and his family were loyal to the England king. In 1761, there was a new king that took over England. That is when Adams started to change his mind. When the new king took over they had to make a new writ of assistance, so there had to be change. John Otis was also a reason John Adams became a patriot. Otis was a lawyer that was hired for the colonists at the trial for the Boston massacre. John Adams said Otis “rose like a flame of fire.” Adams was at the trial for the British soldiers. He did this because he believed that everyone should have a chance to be found not guilty. So he took this case without any hesitation. In the trial Adams had shown evidence of which found the mob or crowd and the first shot from the British soldiers was just how normal people would react. To the life threatening things like with what was happening. The jury found 6 men out of 8 not guilty why 2 were found guilty with manslaughter. In the same year John Adams was elected to represent for Massachusetts in the first Constitutional Congress in 1774 with 4 other men history book pg.142. In 1775 the Congress made a Continental Army that then made George Washington the leader and founder of the army. In 1776 the Congress approved of Adams resolution of each colony over its own government on May 15. Then in July John Adams seconded Richard Henry Lee resolution of Independence.
