The conflict between the Christians and the Jesus Seminar has been an ongoing struggle since 1985. The Jesus Seminar, founded by Robert Funk, originated in 1985 as around 70 biblical scholars set out to determine the legitimacy of Jesus’ sayings (Dart). The Seminar focused on the historicity of Jesus using the best methods of science and literary criticism as it pertains to the Bible. Funk believed that the gospel writers had made Jesus into a “larger than life” figure in order to satisfy their religious desires. The Jesus Seminar’s goal is to rid the historical figure of Jesus from “Christian legend and myth” and to find out who Jesus really was and what he really said (Craig).…
Due to my working hours, l can’t be there when my son’s come home from school, so my wife will have them call me at work shortly after they arrive. When my son’s and I converse generally we talk about the events of their day. recently my oldest son (13) calls and tells me of a bully who has called him names and my son is asking what he should do, how should he respond? It was during this conversation that the words of Jesus from John 15 ran through my mind: 18 “If the world hates you, [e]you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.…
Though many believers will negate the important effect that their worldviews have on their lives, their worldviews function as a critical pivotal point by which they understand and relate with the rest of the world and by which they motivate themselves. Since humans unconsciously rely on past experience and knowledge to prompt their next move, a worldview provides a lens of understanding through which past perceptions reveal how to understand the present reality. However, many people like to bury their heads in the sand, so to speak, when it comes to acknowledging their worldview’s impact or changing a fault in their worldview. Unfortunately, these people are like someone who refuses to wear corrective lenses, and whose gaze is therefore obscured…
“I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty. But who can endure the day of his coming?…
There is plenty of evidence in the Bible of Jesus' nature as both fully human and fully divine. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, Jesus is confirmed to be human because of his display of human emotions, his human birth and death and also his human needs and form. Jesus is confirmed to be divine because of his title of Lord and the fact that he is the son of God. His conception within the Virgin Mary also confirmed his divinity. The Nicene Creed also mentions Jesus as the son of God and as Lord, confirming his divinity.…

The word ‘soon’ can imply that things will come, whether it comes quickly or with delay. The bible has already predicted events that have happened, and the book of Revelation prepares us for what has not yet started. The troubles with prophecies is that they tend to speak as if the end is ready to happen, however, it does not reveal when. Because of this, people are unaware of when these things could happen and may not be prepared. As described, the angel did not reveal these things to John in a simple way.…

In this essay, I will be talking about what I believe to be true from what Jesus tells us in the Bible, about being the Son of God and how He was here to die on the cross for our sins, showing everyone who He was and who ever believe in Him is save, or healed if they were sick. In this paper, I will be talking about the trustworthiness and historicity of the Gospels. The historical reliability of the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ miracles, and did Jesus claim to be God. Did his disciples believe he was God? The accuracy of the resurrection accounts in the Gospels, that is, did Jesus rise bodily from the dead?…

In this first miracle of John’s account, Jesus and His disciples attended a wedding feast at Cana of Galilee, and during the course of the celebration, the wine supply ran out. Mary approached her son Jesus and said, “They have no wine” (John 2:3). Jesus directed the servants to fill six large stone waterpots with water and then commanded the servants to “draw out” the contents of the jars and serve it to the governor of the feast (see John 2:8). At some point between the filling and the drawing out of the jars, the Savior miraculously changed the water to high quality wine. (see John 2:10).…
The Gospel of John is one of the four Gospels written to tell the story of Jesus’ life. Just as Matthew, Mark, and Luke have given their accounts of Jesus’ miracles so has John. Though these accounts may have their own way of telling what is important to them, the main fact is that these Gospels were recorded so that we may learn more of the word of God. “In order to understand John’s approach to the story of Jesus, the reader must recognize the centrality of the incarnation of the Gospel” (NIB 1905). The book of John begins, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1).…
John’s Gospel is set out to prove that Jesus Christ is God. God came in human flesh as Jesus Christ to show His people His great works through miracles and teachings. During Jesus’ time on this earth, He used the claim “I AM” to describe himself throughout all His teachings. The Gospel of John shows at least eight different times Jesus says this. Seven of these claims were accompanied by signs to back up His words.…
