The History of the Johari Window- ‘The Johari window was originally formulated by Joseph (Jo) Luft and Harrington (Hari) Ingham, developed as a model of interpersonal awareness’, (Halpern, Helen, 2009). The Johari Window was also designed to help improve communication skills amongst others and better understand an individual’s awareness. The breakdown of the model shows how a person reveals themselves to others and to how they see themselves in their own self-image. And all of these get revealed and put into the four components of the Johari window which are the known area, the blind quadrant, the hidden quadrant, and lastly the unknown quadrant. An example of this when I did not know I had this in me, but it took some time was leadership in a project. I used to and sometimes still do it is when I let other people take charge in a project. I do not like to volunteer myself as a leader when it comes to groups because I feel the pressure and I have so many expectations for myself that I bring myself down on this. But last year, I was in my own group and we were doing our project, but my friend came up to me and said that her group was not helping her create it so I got up and started to tell the guys in her group what to do and before you knew it their project was done.
