Beethoven began his early training with his abusive father Johann van, although his offensive tactics towards Beethoven hurt him physically and emotionally, Beethoven develop a keenness for playing instruments. His creativity surpassed all of the pain and suffering caused by such a traumatic childhood. Once Beethoven sharpened his talent he was able to achieve a position as an appointed organist for the courts, his salary was about 150 florins. This achievement made his father very proud of his son, because now Beethoven would be able to help support his family financially, since Johann was a drunken musical failure he did not have the necessary means to provide for his family. G.S Neefe also helped shape and cultivate Beethoven’s artistry of composing, Beethoven was said “If I ever become anybody”, I shall owe it to you” (Pg7). Neefe considered Beethoven on of the most skilled pianist in Germany, soon enough Beethoven was sent to Vienna in order to pursue a higher level of studies with F.J Haydn. Beethoven’s studies consisted of a profound focus on the fugue, from 1792 to 1796 they perpetrated this counterpoint. To be able to support himself and continue his studies, Beethoven decided to give lessons to earn a living. His colleagues and associates felt repugnance towards Beethoven, even to the extent of calling him a “demon” said Abbe Gelinek. Although they acknowledged that Beethoven was a virtuoso pianist that had triumphal appearances at Prague, at Pesth and Berlin where he performed for the King of Prussia, his peers never ceased to criticize Beethoven’s cynical character (Pg 12).
