Joey and laurie have common issues except for one!
Joey, from the book ‘Joey Pigza’ By jack gantos, is a very
Hyper active and “Wired child”(17) and has some “Medical
Issues”. Laurie from the short story ‘Charles’ by shirley
Jackson. Larie, a very intelligent well mannered lier,
And Joey an overly hyper and mentally challenged
Preteen have different families and situations that possibly
Have a say on their behaviour.

Laurie is a very well mannered 5 year old lier but maybe some
Of his problems our because of his parents.
Laurie has some “family issues” as in laurie has no one to talk to
His dad works a lot and his mother has a baby to look after.
So being the oldest child in his family at age five, there are not many
People to talk or hang out with. From my experience of A being a five year old
And B babysitting a five

Joey Pigza has a very unique and special situation.
Joey’s mother abandoned him and many years later she comes
Just in for his grandma to leave him. Joey has a medical situations
And troubles at school leave him at a new place where he will
“Helped”. Joey’s mom might have caused the problems but she is trying
Hard to pull herself together for joey.

These two Mom’s have very different approaches on the way they
View their children. Lori's mom has quite an impact on her child’s
Life as does joey’s mom by Joey's the problem accordingly.
Laurie’s mom doesn’t know the problem and refuses to believe that her
Little angel can do any wrong. Different moms have different ways to
Acknowledge problems and some are better than others.
Earlier on in this essay I pointed out that joey’s mom and laurie’s mom Have different ways of “parenting”. Laurie/charles and joey have
Different family relationships with their parents
Which dictates how they act and how they deal with anger!
