Joel Selanikio Analysis

I have enjoyed very much the presentation of Joel Selanikio, titled “Big data revolution in healthcare”.
First of all, I found his presentation very inspiring. I’m personally huge believer in helping less privileged, less fortunate people. I remember when I was a kid, my school was visited by missionary from Africa. She was talking about heartaches of every day life, including healthcare, especially malaria disease. At that time, malaria vaccine was non-existent and I remember I wish to became a doctor/biologist and come up with medicine or vaccine for malaria. Sadly, I didn’t become a doctor, but I still support the cause.

Mountains beyond mountains by Tracy Kidder follows a doctor who grew up in a poor household and then followed his dream of being a doctor. He earned his degrees at Harvard and Duke and began his journey helping people. This book follows Farmer’s life in great detail, including his work and accomplishments. 1. The message I take with me by listening to his speech is that if we want things to change if we don’t want to see more violence between races, if we don’t want to see more discrimination, if we don’t want to see more people struggling just to get something to eat everyday, then we need to open our eyes and see clearly that the problem is not with a specific race or the “special” treatment other race get, the problem is that people with a lot of power puts us on situations like this so that they can live out of our expenses . I think that it very important that people need to realize that the current system is only there to help a few lucky ones and the other struggle. 2. I noticed he used the problem and solution one, because the first part of his speech he presented us with the struggles that brown people go thru every day and how it is influenced by the society that we as citizens have built, he too explained to us the problem we have with understanding things that don’t relate to white culture.…

The Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) on big data for better outcomes programme has taken important steps in this direction. However, there is an added need to expand the understanding by prospectively adding data from clinical studies and results from best clinical practice. The accumulated results build a continuously growing base of knowledge and provide the…

Unlike most murders that usually last for seconds or even hours, for the first time in the fabulous history of cinema, this premeditated, peculiarly cold-blooded and utterly merciless one, lasts for years. To be more specific, at first, it started as an unobtrusive annoyance, but shortly afterwards, it became a genuinely dreadful and sticky threat, forcing the hapless Forensic Pathologist Jack Cucchiaio to run for his life.
