Joe Duelo's Position

On Tuesday, March 28, I had the opportunity to attend the Dinner with 7 Lakers. which was an an event organized by the Future Alumni Association at the Alumni House. At this event, there were many majors represented. They each had their own table with five current students, a professor from the specified department, and alumni in the career field. I had the opportunity of sitting at the Supply Chain and Management table. The professor representing the department was Lori Koste who teaches a wide variety of supply chain-related, upper level Seidman courses. The alumni represented at the table who I had the pleasure of interviewing was Joe Duelo. Joe is a graduate of Grand Valley from the class of 2011. He received his Bachelors of Business Administration with a double major in Management and Marketing. …show more content…
Joe has had this position for five months, but worked at Ryder before as a Rental Management Trainee for nearly three years before receiving his promotion to his current position. Joe shows much passion for his job in the supply chain field. Given that he is a “people person”, he very much enjoys how he gets to work with a variety of companies and people he interacts with on a day to day basis at Ryder. He explained that jobs in the supply chain management realm are always needed. 80% of all goods had to be moved from one place to another somehow in a very efficient way to save time and money to ultimately gain maximum profit with this product. The future advice that Joe had for me was to have a mentor at every stage of life. He has had mentors that have guided him to where he is today and where his passion stems from. It’s very important to have that person to go to if you have questions or need advice, especially at your first job following

During my sophomore year as an undergraduate at the University of South Carolina, I was accepted into the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program. I do not exaggerate when I say that this program changed the entire course of my life: helping me to fully understand my interests, altering my professional goals, and providing me with a viable path for my passions. As a first generation student, I had very little knowledge about how to navigate the sphere of undergraduate education and in the same vein, I knew next to nothing about graduate school. Before McNair I was never aware of what graduate school could offer me and the program, and the people it connected me with, became my greatest source of support as I made the journey into pursuing my doctorate.…
