Most stereotypes and misconceptions are positive or negative for groups. Such ideas come from the media on how groups of people are portrayed. For example jocks are held high for being athletically superior and popular among crowds. The positive impact of this stereotype is it holds some truth because being athletically gifted is an amazing talent that some people would envy. Jocks being popular is another stereotype jocks deal with. Most are popular through school, but some rather shy away and tend not to be social. On the negative side many people think jocks are unintelligent when in some cases there is no proof to back such claims. They are drawing in thousands of viewers from around the globe for entertainment purposes. The increased interest has put the spotlight on the figures or the professionals who play video games for a living. This sounds like a dream job, but in reality many gamers are starting to get competitive in order to break out from being the regular gamer into the professional world of gaming. However stereotypes and misconceptions about pro gamers are arising from people who are on the outside of the community. Imagine an extremely dedicated person who puts time and effort into video games. The gamers attention span is wide enough to understand the environment on the screen. Any gameplay action is performed rapidly because the professional gamers’ focus is unbothered by the surroundings in the real world. Not only that, but multitasking is going on while trying to capture an objective or satisfy an end goal. The gamers desktop is filled with water bottles littering the room and have had zero contact with the sun because of how people perceive pro gamers to be antisocial. Many will look at pro gamers and come to the conclusion that professional gamers are not adept at exercising physically because only people who game are nerds especially if one goes
