I went on a job shadow with Sergeant Chuck Robinson of th Kossuth County Sheriffs Office. Chuck is the nighttime supervisor, which means he only works nights and is there to mostly help the other cops, if need be. The article that I chose to read was, The Effects of After-School Tutoring on an Individual ELS Student, written by Amanda Donahue (2002). The purpose of the action research project was to see if by participating in an After-School class with the teacher, the student would stay in school and inspire them to make progress in school. Job shadowing is very useful for work experience because it involves accompanying someone throughout the day and observing what they are doing, this is very useful insight to see how people cope with work load and any interruptions. I strongly believe that schools should not be allowed to monitor students’ social networking outside of school because it is none of their business unless it has to do with the school itself or one of its students. The parents are the ones who should regulate it if necessary. It also violates the students’ privacy. First of all, if it’s not on campus or during school hours, why should they be monitoring the students’ social media.
