Job Shadowing Experience

I had a very great educational experience with my job shadowing opportunity. My first time job shadowing was at Hawk’s Nest STEM Academy, a private school for elementary students. We job shadowed a woman who handled the technological activities in the classroom. What I liked most about this job is the troubleshooting as I was very familiar with Ipads that were used for the activities and was able to fix many of the common problems associated with the devices. The skills and training I needed for this job were patience, effective communication techniques, and to assist the children with technology problems. These skills I believe are essential as many problems associated with technology would require communication with the person having the problem. There were many other factors that were interesting about this job shadowing experience. This job was solely based on technology and our main objective was to ensure children had the most smoothest experience with all technology related class activities. I was nervous about the environment as I had no idea of the …show more content…

Finally, we arrived at the correct school and we were assigned to sixth graders at Belmont middle school. What I liked most about this job is that we got to interact with the students and assist them with arts and crafts. There was no technological aspects involved in this job shadowing experience which upset me at first but I made the best of it and gained valuable communication skills. Most of the habits that were important for this particular job were following directions and participating as a team member of the teacher to make the teacher’s life easier. I consider this to be of prime importance with such an emphasis on technology in all aspects of workplace and home life. Many pupils have a particularly good knowledge in computing as a result of technology being readily available in school and home. My knowledge in this area is weak, probably due to a lack of opportunity at school; I left school nearly 30 years ago and computers were a relatively new concept only just being introduced into schools. Consequently, most of my knowledge to date has been self- taught, although I have attended learning events in University and school whenever possible. This has created a feeling of apprehension whenever I am asked to be involved in any computer related learning.…

Job shadowing is very useful for work experience because it involves accompanying someone throughout the day and observing what they are doing, this is very useful insight to see how people cope with work load and any interruptions. If there is time, the person who is being shadowed can give a comment on what is happening however this is not practical especially if other people like a customer or a supplier during a negotiation overhears what had been said then a debriefing session would take place which is when they ask the person some questions they need to answer to like for example what exactly did you hear. Work experience is a short time experience of employment arranged for older people at schools it helps students know and get a feel…

As a student with the goal of eventually going to medical school, one of the most important aspects of the preparation is job shadowing. Seeing medical professionals do their jobs may be too much for some people, but for people like me, it just makes us more excited for the future. I began shadowing doctors while I was in high school with a family practice physician in my home town of Grand Island. The city, which is the third largest in Nebraska, has a large and still growing Hispanic population. While I was shadowing for this doctor, I noticed that on any given day I would be there he needed a translator for anywhere from one-third to one-half of his patients.…

Another recommended strategy to improve hiring and selection process is the implementation of job shadowing, none of the past employees have been given the opportunity to shadow. Job shadowing is successful for any employment in which the seeing is more realistic than the telling, or when the seeing is an essential part of the learning. Bandura's social learning theory states that people learn by observing others and modeling their behavior. During the job shadowing, the individual sees the real execution of the occupation in real life and the member additionally observes and encounters the subtleties of how the administration is given or the employment performed. At that time, they will also encounter the representative's approach, the relational…

According to American businessman Bill Gates, he believes that, “Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important.” While living in the 21st century, the power of technology is all around us and now it’s becoming such a huge resource for all students more than ever. Except, we need to step back and remember that the main role of the educators such as my seventh grade computer teacher, Mrs. Nash is to teach younger students, primarily in the middle school the necessary skills of using technology, properly. Before starting the interview, I have to admit, I was a little curious about what she was going to say.…
