These study programs mimic a full-time work experience and develop student skills early on. The application process requires each student to create a resume and cover letter and interview (Jackson, 2016).
While the Work-Study programs target Freshmen and Sophomores, Job Shadow programs and Loyola’s Job Fairs target Juniors and Seniors looking to enter into the workforce post-graduation (Jackson, 2016). Due to their location in an urban environment, Loyola establishes strong relationships with local businesses. Students have the opportunity to ask questions and observe day-to-day tasks (“Job Shadow Program: Loyola University

One of the largest university campus fairs occurs at the end of February and brings over 90 corporations, NFPs, and government organizations to Loyola’s Damen Student Center (“Archive: Loyola University Chicago,” 2016). The career fair is open to all current graduate and undergraduate students from all schools as well as alumni seek full-time, part-time or internship opportunity (“Archive: Loyola University Chicago,” 2016). Also, Loyola developed a Career Fair app, which shows a full list of employers at the fair and a map showing each employer’s location. The poem ‘A summer day’, by Mary Oliver asks the question “What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”. The UCF College of Business is filled with so many opportunities, I try to take advantage of all that I can while it is available. One of those opportunities is the chance to attend career fairs, another is having career services. Since transferring to UCF from Valencia I had heard about students attending career fairs and landing jobs just by networking and handing out resumes. I thought that was far-fetched, that potentially someone could obtain the employer contacts and stay in communication with them until an interview came of it.…

Introduction Job training is fundamental to helping public assistance recipients and minimally skilled workers achieve lasting economic stability. With the majority of welfare recipients either unemployed or minimally employed, and recent “welfare-leavers” in low-wage positions with no benefits or skills, the notion of self-sufficiency is unreal. Factual Background The 1980’s and 1990’s saw an increase to productivity and income growth as compared to the lull of the 1970’s.…
