The duties and responsibilities of a project manager are given below:

Duties:
 Interaction with clients at the start of a project to understand the requirements and core deliverables.

 Preparing a project plan including contingency plan for execution of the project, deadlines for the project.  Identify team members to work on the project based on available pool as supplied by the Manpower Allocation committee.

 Purchases or contracts for IT services, equipment, products, supplies, property, or other items.

 Participates in change control (for example, reviewing configuration change requests)

Responsibilities:

 Assign roles to the team members and communication of deadlines to them.

 Ensures appropriate product-related training and documentation are developed and made available to customers.

 Regular meetings (weekly/fortnightly) with the project leaders, client-side co-ordinator, onsite co-ordinator (if any) and the account manager to discuss the progress of the projects and issues, if any.

 Conducting general meetings with all the team members of various projects for addressing some common issues or to inform some changes.

 Ensuring on-time filling of time-sheets by all team members and getting proper billing done from the client side co-ordinator.
