“El Chapo” Guzman Throughout history there have been many world leaders. These leaders are the ones who have excelled in various fields. Usually a successful leader is a person who has been on a journey of some kind. The definition of a journey is defined as a “travel from one place to another” (The American Heritage Dictionary). Most successful leaders throughout history have traveled through difficult or trying situations. The journey of a leader can change history, and impact the world in either positive or negative ways. Joaquin Guzman Loera, also known as “El Chapo”, is a world leader who has made a difference in the drug world and in Mexico. Guzman had a very interesting childhood. He was born in La Tuna, Sinaloa in Mexico. When he …show more content…
Guzman sold until he became the largest drug dealer in the world. In Mexico, he sold marijuana, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and other drugs. He later began to sell all over the world. This brought in huge profit to Mr. Guzman. He lead many cartels and gained power solely because he sold drugs illegally. In places like Mexico and Guatemala, where the majority of people live in poverty, many of the people who work with the federal law want more money. Therefore, the police and other law enforcers can be easily bribed to be on the criminal’s side rather than the government's. This is the reason why “El Chapo” sometimes is not captured when found. Because he has this power, he is almost more powerful than the President of Mexico. He is also a very violent and abusive man. He is “... a small gentlemen who literally rose to such huge, vicious power” (Jahad and Luhar). Guzman now seems to lead the world with a very negative influence, but he still has a great influence. He has many people that see his wealth, so they want to follow in his footsteps. This means that he has influenced people in some way. Also, he has been in the news because he has escaped jail many times, including recently. The most recent time he escaped he gave Presidential-Elect Donald J. Trump the death threat. Currently “El Chapo” is in the Altiplano prison in Mexico. He has yet to escape this time but with his power and leadership he could escape at any
