Before she was born The 100 Years War had torn across France, England had conquered much of Northern France. The countries were under a peace treaty which disinherited the crowned prince, and lead to King Henry V to rule over both France and England.

However she was refused entrance to the city by the magistrate, Robert de Baudricourt. His rejection didn’t crack her spirit, and she persisted, attracting a small circle of followers, believing her to be the virgin of the popular prophecy. The one to save France and bring their beloved country to its former glory. Eventually, Baudricort, relented, and Joan rallied the men in the garrison and left for Chinon. Her hair was cropped and she donned men’s clothing as she journeyed to Charles’s palace. When she reached Chinon, Joan was granted a private audience with the prince. She vowed to see him crowned as the king of France and requested a small militia to lead into Orleans. Despite the advice of his court, he liked Joan’s spirit and granted her wish. A year later and she rode off on a glistening white horse and donned in armor that shone like snow and freshly polished pearls, finally prepared to reclaim Orleans. Joan declared her war on the Anglo-Burgundians through a letter and launched several attacks on them, forcing the English to retreat across the Loire
