I am the most notable woman in French history. Would you believe I was only sixteen when I fought for France? As a young child, I never really went to church or prayed that much. But when I was visited by 3 saints, that all changed. I am Joan of Arc, I grew up a typical girl, but at the age of thirteen, three saints appeared to me; their appearance changed France forever because I fought for my people’s freedom and became the most notable woman in French history.
I was born in Domremy, France on January 6, 1412. This was during the Hundred Years’ War. I had three older brothers, a mother, and a father (1). I was brought up a pretty ordinary girl. I was taught to spin wool and to sew. I grew up helping my mother in these ways. …show more content…
But they were really persistent. I thought long and hard about it as they visited me several times; eventually, the saints convinced me to help save France (3). Later, in May 1428, I received a vision instructing me to travel to Vaucouleurs once more to visit Robert de Baudricourt (2). Even though I had gone once already, I would NOT give up. The saints told me that Baudricourt led a good army, alongside with the Dauphin and he was very loyal to the Dauphin. Charles the Dauphin was fighting over the French throne with King Henry V(2). This time, the second time, the saints were encouraging me a little more (4). As a result, Baudricourt said yes and agreed to try his best (3). They were here to warn me. They were right. During that battle, I was hit in the shoulder (3). I wasn't killed, but I was injured pretty badly. My brigade carried me to safety and I was to rest for a while in order to get better. When I was finally better, I was eager to get back into battle. Once I was ready to fight again, I was sent to fight outside of Paris (7). I had a great plan and shared it with the Dauphin (7). He wasn't taking much interest, but I kept going (7). My plan started out great! But I hadn't noticed that the saints hadn't appeared yet to encourage me (7). Then I realized why. It was September 8th a very holy day (7). No one is to be working, or in my case fighting. I felt very bad. I prayed the rest of that
