Mr. Peters shows that you can be happy and lonely at the same time because he died without a wife and happy, “ In the morning Mr. Peters was found peacefully dead in his bed with a smile of great happiness on his face” (3). Another reason you can be happy and lonely at the same time is that Mr. Peters used his first wish to get a wife. In this story he used many craft moves but the craft moves that I am going to focus on are punctuation and point of view. The author Joan Aiken used punctuation to organize their writing and example is “as Mr. Peters entered a straight, empty stretch of he seemed to hear a faint crying…” (1). Also in this story the author uses point of view to help show what's going on from an outside perspective because it is in third person. A quote to example this is “Mr Peters ran down the hill and he neared the bushes he saw something white…” (1). Another quote is “Presently the swan, when it was satisfied with its appearance, floated into the bank once more.” by knowing what all the characters think the readers know that the point of view is in third person and that it is important so the readers know what's going on
