This seminar is my first class with CCU but not my first college course online. My number one motivator is my family. I had my first child in February of 2017 and I want nothing more than for him to grow up in a household where he can freely learn about Christ. My son, Oliver, is the reason that I have chosen to get my Associates in Biblical Studies. Originally, I was going to college to get a BA in History. My decision to change towards an Associates in Biblical Studies stemmed from the fact that within the last year, I have had a renewal of faith. My renewal led me to the realization that I would never truly know history or be able to raise my son to be faithful until I knew and understood the entire

At the beginning of this semester, I did not know a lot of background information or details regarding the New Testament. I always knew about stories such as the parables in Matthew, but never got the opportunity to grasp and really dive into the rest of the New Testament books of the Bible. However, taking New Testament with Dr. Hamrick has changed and really improved my outlook and understanding of the New Testament as a whole tremendously. I now have truly realized that the New Testament is more than just the second part of the Bible, but that it is the fulfillment of the covenant in the Old Testament. In the beginning of the year, we studied and really dissected each of the synoptic gospels.…

My main goal is to shape young people into disciples filled with Bible knowledge and to help send them out in the world to witness to the unsaved. I plan to do this by combining the discipleship model and the ministry model talked about by Richard R. Dunn in his book, “Reaching A Generation For Christ”. He states that the philosophy of the discipleship model as, “The discipleship model trains students to be God’s people in an ungodly world, equipped with Bible study and prayer skills developed in a caring atmosphere with a view to reproducing their Christian lives in other” (175). This philosophy would be fulfilled by small groups or “trainings” held on a weekly basis. I would like to keep a very close, relational youth group.…

When I was initially given my class schedule, I was not excited for New Testament Literature and Theology. To be honest, an early morning Bible class is not exactly what excites me. Since my father is a Father, and my mother is a children 's ministry director, my upbringing was steeped in biblical teaching. Not that I expected to know everything, however, many of the “Ha, I bet you didn’t know that fact!” facts I was confident my education would 've left me sufficiently prepared.…

Theology requires to take at the beginning of my first semester. At first, I did not feel comfortable to take the course because the course is based on religion. For this reason, the class has a diverse culture, and from personal experience, some people do not like religion as well as do not believe in God, so I was nervous in a sense. I was venturing into to something new, and I was afraid that it could get unpleasant. However, after the second week in the semester, I felt very comfortable.…

The topic of sin is difficult for me; I am a sinner by all definitions. However, I am not any different than anyone else, we are all sinners. I do believe that people can be forgiven for their sins and I do believe some sin are more serious than others, but everyone sins. I have a few quotes that I use when discussing sin, the first from the bible and the second one, I read a few years ago. ““So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”…
