Jo Goodwin Parker was barely living, not being able to afford something as small as Vaseline and unable to work because she had no one to take care of her children. She made just barely enough to afford rent and even then, her children went hungry, her baby had no diapers, and hot water was a luxury she could not afford. The poor only get poorer and the rich get richer. Families that can’t afford to pay off their debt will only accumulate more from the interest attached to the loan. In addition, college may not be an option
