Jimmy Valentine, the once famous thief set on a new path, one lead to love and new opportunities. Jimmy Valentine is a convict known to commence the cleanest safe cracking in the business. His reign of felonious crimes has been shut down for ten months due to his arrest. Now he has been released back into the world, giving him a chance to change his ways. Integrity, compassion and charitability is what Jimmy Valentine showed to be truly dedicated to living a moral life. Jimmy fell in love showing that he can care for someone other than himself. He can supply for their needs with honest income rather than someone else's. “ A young lady crossed the street, passed him at the corner and entered a door over which was the sign, ‘ The Elmore Bank’”( O. Henry 2). This is compassion, caring about someone to not take control over them or to use them. Especially for him, not to use her to get inside the bank. Lastly, Jimmy unlocked a girl, named Agatha, out of a safe when she was trapped inside. Jimmy risked his whole reputation in front of everyone who he adored and sympathize for, this equals compassion. This does not prove though that he was not dedicated to living a moral life, at times like this he may have lost the people he loved. Second of all, Jimmy Valentine was at first hesitant about leaving his town to get his wife a gift, but he figured that it is safe now to venture off. He may have hesitated about leaving his comfort spot, but who isn’t at first. Being hesitant is not always atrocious thing it may be a peachy thing as well, so you do not make poor decisions. Finally, he hesitated when his wife called for him. He hesitated for his wife was to important to risk.
