Jimmy Carter Informative Speech

Hello everyone, for those of you who do not know me, my name is Jimmy Carter and I served as the 39th President of the United States. I served from 1977-1981. I am very honored to be receiving this award and it means a lot to me. Winning this award shows that my human rights actions are effective. When people hear the word “poverty” some of them cringe and feel uncomfortable. I know that personally, I feel uncomfortable. That is why I began my battle against it. I simply could not stand to see Americans falling to poverty and having to live in slums. My wife and I took action against this issue when we created the Carter Center and teamed up with Habitat in Americus, Georgia (which helps people struggling in poverty). About 15 years ago the project built 157 houses in New York City, and also in Jacksonville, Florida. Other JCWP projects have taken place in different countries, such as the Philippines which built 293 houses, and in Houston, Texas the project built 100 houses. The 2017 Project will be held at sites across Canada July 9-14, 2017 (Habitat for

During the trip, we volunteered with the Saint Bernard Project, a rebuilding, nonprofit organization whose mission is to help disaster-impacted communities recover. They put a lot of effort into rebuilding homes, fundraising, and preparing for potential disasters. The home we serviced was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. We spent a lot of time installing drywall for the Saint Bernard Project.…

President Reagan uses narrative in his speech to help illustrate his main points as well as strengthen his argument. Reagan uses the embedded narrative style. This means the narratives he uses are placed inside the speech at key points. By using narrative, Reagan is able to give credibility to his argument as well as create identification between himself and the audience. The credibility is shown when Reagan uses a well-known explorer to connect the Challenger accident to a story that offers comfort to families.…
