Jimmy Carter: Former President

Decent Essays
If I had the opportunity to meet with any person in history for a thirty-minute conversation, I would converse with former President Jimmy Carter. The former president was a humbly raised peanut farmer in Georgia and managed to win the votes of countless Americans to eventually become president. Mr. Carter is known for his generosity, humility, and genuine love for his community and country. The former president is the person I wish I could become. He was not necessarily the greatest president in history; however, he was the kindest president we have ever had. Mr. Carter is willing to give up his time and care for his community. I would talk to President Carter about his favorite times in office. I would also ask Mr. Carter how he maintained

Overall the essays that we have read this semester have been good. There are a few essays in particular that I think benefited me the most was “The Time to Act I Now” written by Al Gore, “Just Walk on By” written by Brent Staples, and the “Letter from Birmingham Jail” written by Martin Luther King. These essays have benefited me in a numerous amount of ways in which I am going to explain how their writing styles helped me become a better writer. Staples helped me a lot in which he taught me to explain my reasoning fully so that the audience know exactly what I am talking about. Another thing that Staples taught me was to explain the setting of the story in full detail so the readers can visualize what’s actually happening in the story this…

If I were given the chance to have a conversation with any prominent person, I would choose to talk to Harriet Tubman. She was a spy for the United States army during the civil war. Along with that, she is more well known for risking her life to help over 300 people escape slavery. First of all, I would ask her if she ever second guessed going on trip and putting herself in danger to save others. If she did, I would ask her how she overcame that fear because she is a perfect example of how people should not let fear dictate their decisions.…

On a sweltering summer day in the City of Atlanta or the “ATL” as it is affectionately known today, I visited my best friend while he visited his father for the summer. That day I remember vividly because as soon as we stepped outside of the airport to take the “MARTA” train, I began to sweat profusely. Anyone that has been to Atlanta during the summer knows it is incredibly humid there. A week earlier I had seen my friend, and we planned out what we were going to do that week I visited. I knew I wanted to visit Spellman College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, and Morris Brown College, but before I could visit the Atlanta University Center or the “AUC” as it is called to the locals, I felt compelled to visit the grave site of one of the most influential human being to walk this earth.…
