Jim Halpert: A Tragic Hero

You can find heros in almost anyone, perhaps your parents, your friend, and even your favorite actor from a TV show. When you think about heros usually the first type that comes to mind is, Spiderman, Deadpool, Batman, and Firefighters. Yes, they are heroes, but they are the typical heroes found in movies. No one ever really thinks about those heroes that are in your favorite TV shows or Romantic Comedy movies or even heroes found in your everyday life. Each hero is different and fall into one of the following categories; modern, conventional, tragic, and byronic hero. Jim Halpert from the show The Office is a paper salesman working at Dunder Mifflin. Jim Halpert is a conventional hero who has shown us that patience is the key to success.
Jim Halpert has all the characteristics of a conventional hero. He is self-sacrificing, appreciated, and acts for the good of all throughout the entire show. Pam is the one who genuinely appreciates Jim for all that he’s done for her. He is largely known for being self-sacrificing because he sets his own feelings aside. When he first told Pam that he was in love with her, Jim waited for the right time to tell Pam about his feelings. Pam told him that she was marrying Roy and she could not be with him. Jim then

If you analyze deeply, you can find a hero in almost anyone. Heroes help guide us to who we want to become in life. Essentially they are our role models. Our culture views conventional heroes like Jim as the ideal man you want in your life, you want someone who is patient and self- sacrificing to go through life with. Women see Jim’s journey and they aspire to have someone like him. Men see Jim’s journey and they follow in his footsteps to become a hero themselves. He shows us that if you really want something you have to wait for the right time to go after it. Life is about going after what you want and Jim Halpert clearly shows us this through his long
