While the “spin” was not necessarily lying, it was certainly not completely honest. Despite pressure from his coworkers to conform and from his boss to hit the numbers, he did not give in to the pressure and found ways to be successful without being ethically questionable. Jim is also a very loyal person, he keeps in close contact with his family, has a reputation for being the guy who will drop everything for a friend in need. He had a girlfriend in high school, he cared for very much and tried to maintain the relationship when she went away for college. Ultimately, neither of them enjoyed the long distance relationship and she ended it a few months after she left. While Jim is responsive to his friends and family when they reach out to him, he struggles to make an effort to proactively reach out, causing some of his friends to feel forgotten and unimportant in Jim’s life. When his friends brought this to his attention, he would apologize, talk about his work and school load and promise to do better. However, now that school has ended and he is settling into his career, he is still finding it difficult to reach out. To compound the problem, when Jim is in a relationship he makes engaging with friends and family even less of a priority. His rationale is that he has so little time as it is, he should spend what time he does have with the person he loves. Essentially, Jim struggles with his personal balance and can be clingy when in a relationship. In addition, Jim can get distracted from productive activities by his passion for music. There have been multiple occasions where Jim has stayed out to late because he discovered a new band he liked, or was playing the guitar for hours on end, putting him behind, and forcing him to work longer and later to catch
