Jill's Monologue

One stormy, moonless night just past ten o’clock Jill came knocking on Tom’s apartment door. As Tom glanced into the peephole to see who was knocking on his door, he got an apprehensive feeling. When realizing it was Jill, his girlfriend, who he had just got into a heated argument with last night; he thought maybe I should not open it. Vacating his thoughts in the past, he unlatched the door and asked Jill what brought her to this part of town, knowing it was not to see him. Jill informed him that she was being pursued by someone after she left dinner. Much deliberation went through Tom’s head like, who was she at dinner with and more importantly, who could be following her? Jill then elucidates how she didn’t want to go home and felt invulnerable in Tom’s house. Then another knock was perceived at the door. …show more content…
He peers through the peephole a second time and becomes speechless. Jill quickly gazes through the opening also because Tom has become intensely silent. The apartment is quieter than a church mouse. Jill then interrogated, through the door, “Who are you?” A low, deep voice responded through the door, “My name is Death.” In a frightened panic, Tom and Jill both sprinted to the fire escape and briskly got down on the steps. They then proceeded out to the countryside, anticipating that death would not trail
