Jib Fowles Advertisement Analysis

Ads have been around for a long time and were used for many different reasons. Some of the purposes were to make political and religious statements then some are used to get people to buy their product. For Jib Fowles there are fifteen needs each advertisement needs to appeal to in order to sell the product. The advertisement produced by Terre des Femmes appeals to three of these needs. This ad contains a woman with a short school skirt; her legs are expose as well as her feet also along with a measuring tool along with her leg with adjective words on it. The advertisement appeals to the need for affiliation, aesthetic sensations and to feel safe.
There is a young lady standing to the side wearing a short skirt with a ruler type instrument alongside her leg. In this case it 's the need for affiliation into society. Noticing how high her skirt is; we could infer it was an attempt to be trendy in the current fashion trends. Most females wear this style to fit in, but while trying to

Instead of admiring the beauty of her legs and feet it is seen as if she does not have enough clothes on and because of that it automatically makes her a whore. Or at the bottom of the measuring instrument it says “Prude” in saying that even when she tries to show her beauty through her clothes and not her body she is still not seen as a work of art. In the middle of the measuring instrument there are words such as “TEASE” and “ASKING FOR IT” in order to appeal the need to feel safe. It appeals to people by showing because a woman wears certain clothes does not mean she is asking for you to touch her inappropriately or call her derogatory names. The ad is expressing that women have the right to feel safe in whatever they want chose to wear.
