Kennedy was one of the most beloved presidents. The public loved and is very interested in him and his family. However, the public is even more interested in his murder and what really happened on November 22, 1963. The mystery behind John F. Kennedy’s assassination can be summed up in two theories: Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone and there were other groups of people involved in his murder. To begin with, on the videos of the shooting, you can hear three shots being fired (“Alternative Assassination Theories for John F. Kennedy”). Some people thought they had heard four shots being fired, which would mean there was a second gunman. This video proves that there was only 3 shots fired and not four. To prove, Steven Gillon, a professor of history at the University of Oklahoma, claims, “Oswald had threatened to kill JFK during his trip to Mexico City just three weeks before the assassination (Gillon). In 2017, the JFK files were released and there was no evidence that Oswald did not act alone (Gillon). When Oswald was a child, he grew up with no dad, an overprotective mom, and very little friends. This shows that Oswald had a rough childhood, which made him a very angry outcast (Gillon). This would explain why he killed John F. Kennedy. Also, many theorists think that if there was another gunman, they would have shot JFK from the grassy knoll.
