Prior to the year 500 A.D. Jewish scholarship was largely based on oral tradition. Rabbis and scholars would discuss the Torah and debate its meanings and teachings and produced no major written works to outline their conclusions. However after the destruction of the Jewish Commonwealth and the fall of the Second Temple in the year 70 A.D. Jewish norms and ideals were in upheaval. This destabilization of a collective Jewish code of conduct lead to Jewish leadership beginning to using written word to communicate from church officials to the population. As a result the first Torah was produced and another major document in the Jewish faith called the Talmud. Economists pushed forward the development of Game Theory because of its ability to empirically analyze data in competitive situations. Certain historical economists also used game theory, for example, they used game theory to analyze European merchants guilds. They used the strategical analysis to look at the decisions merchants and rulers made and their interactions with one another. During World War II, the United States and Soviet union saw the utility in game theory. Governments wanted to use game theory to develop war strategies. In the Cold War, the Eisenhower administration called upon game theorist Tom Scheller to advise them on the strategic use of nuclear weapons. Schiller convinced President Eisenhower that these weapons should only be used as deterrents from attacks from other countries. The dramatic growth of this field was influenced by many factors, but these fields in particular had a major impact on this fields development.
The history of game theory is a particularly colorful one due to its applicable nature. The ability to rationally analyze a situation is highly relevant to more areas than just mathematics. Whether it be economics, biology, history, or politics, game theory is perhaps one of the most useful forms of mathematics that we have developed in recent years. It is for these reasons that game theory is one of man kind’s more notable

Lost In Judaism The year 2004 was just not a very good year overall. In this year, devastating tsunami struck multiple countries in Southeast Asia, President George W. Bush was re-elected, the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Detroit Pistons in the finals of the NBA Championship, and last but not least, the USA Men’s Basketball team lost to Argentina in the semifinals of the 2004 Olympics in Athens. However, despite all the news of disasters and disappointments, some good things also happened in this year. For example, the Boston Red Sox won the World Series for the first time since the year 1918, Michael Phelps earned six out of his total of twenty three Olympic gold medals in this year, and Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban was out in…

Thomas Cahill argues that the Jews greatly affected Western society. Although the Jews are small in number, their contributions affect the way all people - both Jewish and non-Jewish behave. Firstly, Judaism introduced the concept of democracy to the world. In the book of Shmot, when G-d defeats the demi-god Pharoah, He proves no political figure can be a god. Furthermore, the 10 plagues are a direct attack against Egyptian gods: the transformation of the Nile river into blood an affront to the Nile-god, while the impenetrable darkness offended Ancient Egypt’s central god, the Sun-god (Ra).…

Growing up as a Jew enmeshed in the conservative movement, I knew very little of actual practical Judaism; practical in the sense of what a Jew actually practices in daily and yearly observances, such as the Sabbath- otherwise known as Shabbat, praying three times a day- morning services, called Shacharit, afternoon services, Mincha, and night services, Maariv, as well as keeping kosher; specifically, not mixing milk and meat and waiting one hour after eating dairy before eating meat, and six hours after eating meat before eating dairy. Additionally, kosher laws relating to how the meat is slaughtered, as well as how dairy products are farmed and produced. The German women protested because they refused to abandon their Jewish husbands. Once a German divorced a Jew, the Nazis would find that specific Jew and send him immediately to an extermination camp.…

    I. Introduction to Game Theory Originally the theory of games was developed to look at games, applying to games such as chess, checkers, and tic-tac-toe (Owen, 2013). Game theory has not become a standard language in economics and other social sciences but this branch of study was original developed in 1944 by John von Neumann and Oskar Morgenstern. It wasn’t until a few years later that a solution was proposed as to how rationale players would interact. John Nash proposed that players would adjusted their strategies until no player could benefit from changing and reach what has been coined the “Nash Equilibrium.”…
