Character Analysis: My First Impressions Of Jewel

Decent Essays
Jewel is introduced in the first page with darl start talking and talks about jewel being behind of him by 15ft. My first impression of jewel is that he is secretive and have many thing in his mine and that is why he is different from everyone else. The first time jewel talks in the book is on page #14 and my impression was that he is strange when cash is building the box for his mother jewel say that its because cash is building that box under the window and she can see him. Its also give me the impression that he really cares about his mother and how she is. He is the third son of addie and he is also not son of anse because of that the thing with the rest of the family its not the same. He character is mention a lot in the story by other characters and they see him as a guy who does care about anybody else but himself and not even about his own mother. cora talks about jewel …show more content…
when i read jewel character that opinion change completely. He was rude and also at the same time caring for his mother something that i didn't expect about him at the end. When he when to change his horse the most precious thing he had four mules to get his mother underground was surprising and unexpected from him. When anse said that he try to trade jewels house jewel just got his horse and run away i thought for second that he was not coming back but when he got back it was not because of his family it was because he care and loves his mother so much that he was fine to deal with the rest of the family no problem. So my opinion about jewel is that i love his character the way he is and also because he has reason why to be like he

At first when she's still desperately trying to fit in with the cool kids it's hate to make that connection between her and that crystal. The reason for that is because it just stays as a "dud" as she calls it. She keeps trying, but as she starts to slowly see through the cool girls' guises and see them for the selfish liars they were the sapphire crystal slowly starts to grow into a beautiful blue gem like the rubies and alums did much earlier in the story. These other gems may symbolize some of the other characters in the story, but if that's the case then I didn't see who the gems correlated…

While reading The Scarlet Letter, I was introduced to many characters such as Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, Roger Chillingworth, and Pearl Prynne. Of all the main characters in the story, the person I most empathize with is Pearl. Even though Pearl is a little girl, I can understand, in a way, what she is going through. Throughout the beginning of the story, she has no idea who her father is. While I have known my father for my whole life i have known of people who have never met their own fathers, and i can understand what confusion she must have felt as a young child.…

Contrarily, much of the book depicts Jewel as distant and hostile towards his family. The misunderstanding of his Jewel’s family, is why Faulkner’s animal symbolism shows Jewel’s true feelings. Jewel tends to show his feelings through violent acts, which is confusing. Jewel also physically, as well as, mentally distances himself from the rest of his family. Jewel has a independent nature, partially due to the fact he is an illegitimate child, so he never quite fits in with the rest of the Bundren’s.…

While reading “The Jewelry,” I found it to be an interpretive style of fiction. Maupassant’s primary goal is not only to entertain the readers, but to engage the readers mind into finding the deeper and hidden message that lies within the story. During the beginning of “The Jewelry,” I thought I knew what the outcome would be, however that was not the case. The plot took a completely different turn than I had expected it to. Maupassant used a lot of irony throughout the story, which hid the actual message of it pretty well.…
