Thumbs up or down Like is the word that we love to hear often. Being liked gives validation, approval, and acceptance from society. In the social media world being liked is known as a thumbs up, and dislike as a thumbs down. This generation has created an artificial world where priorities have changed from social media being part of their top priorities. The greatest influences of this generation is social media. On a fact sheet it is stated that ninety-five percent of teen age’s 12-17 use social media, and ninety four percent have a facebook. (pewinternet.org) the next most used social media is Instagram. The teens are more worried who’s liking their posts rather then what their grades are, and Companies are getting the benefit out …show more content…
We want to be liked so we like the things that social media show what cool is. Big companies take full advantage of free marketing. They start by catching the audience’s attention by creating something that everyone can relate too. For example, Jet blue airline company created a campaign where you get to fly free if you have the best video. JetBlue’s campaign will be successful for the airline because they get audience connected by including normal people like themselves in the original video. They create a connection between the audience and the commercial making it seem that care about the people. They use social media to bring the audience to interact and get involved by letting them show their story, they are using their audience as a marketing tool without the audience even realizing they are promoting JetBlue in exchange for a chance to fly free. Some people are starting to think they are Instagram or facebook famous because of the amount of friends or followers they have. On a video of Generation like there was a disturbing video of a twelve year old named baby scumbag who was with women in their panties. He Is YouTube famous because he acts exactly how his name sounds. Baby scumbag’s response to why he does the things that does is because of the money to help his family out of poverty. It makes sense he’s popular, marketers want their name out there, people like his videos, and he gets money. The place that’s losing its value is society and their morals and self-respect which are far more important than money for both marketers, baby scumbag, and ordinary people liking these videos.
