When talking about Jesus, the divine figure, is that what people think of? Are modern Christians worshipping the revolutionary figure that fought against corruption? Or are they worshipping the loving, caring, and understanding man that changed the lives of so many? The historical account of Jesus is what can be said about him despite one’s philosophical convictions or religious beliefs. The historical account of Jesus describes what he did, given the historical records that have been passed through the generations. So it comes to question whether modern faith is entirely dependent on every single little detail about the life of Jesus. There are probably some people that are completely faithful to the historical Jesus and his revolutionary actions during his lifetime. However, modern Christianity cannot depend on the historical Jesus for a variety of reasons. Christianity focuses on the goodness, the morality, and the pureness of Jesus. When discussing the historical Jesus, these are not the same characteristics that are used to describe him. The historical Jesus saw violence as being necessary in some situations. While Christians look to their Jesus Christ for motivation to be peaceful and kind to all people, no matter how they treat others. Jesus Christ is used as the all encompassing example for morality and goodness, the person that Christians look to when they have dark and negative thoughts.
