Egyptians further believed that for every god there was a goddess. To balance the power of the god Horus, there is the goddess Isis. This would place Mary Magdalene as the “Goddess” to Jesus’ “God”. Of course these ideas do not come without rebuttal from other scholars. Some believe that Jesus never lived in Egypt because the Gospel of Luke states, “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up,”(Luke 4:16) which suggests that he spent his childhood in Nazareth, not Egypt.
