Jesus’ identity can not be better explained that the words of peter, “you are the messiah, who could we turn to but not you.” Jesus’ identity is freedom to my soul in a sense. But that doesn’t mean that he is not the son of God, because he is. But of the “I am…” statements the one that tell really the most of his identity is, “I am the living bread.” To me this is his greatest revealing of who he is. In John 6:51 it says this, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." And it means I am the leaving word come down from heaven, whoever comes to me he will live forever. I will give my body so that life may be given to this world. John 8:12 says this, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." To me it means Jesus is the light of the world, and Jesus is the way to life. Whoever follows me will have life. Many scriptures proclaimed this to be true. Whoever come to the father will have life in the name of his son. This we must believe to be true, for if we don’t kind of in the thoughts of Dr. Thurber we are not a Christian. …show more content…
Only knowing Jesus for a little more than two years has not fully open my heart to his miracles. But then again that’s my fault. When I was in El Salvador I saw these miracles happen before my eyes. Seeing this miracles in this movie, in scripture, and even in my own life is just amazing. I have never seen anything like it, nor heard, or read anything so great. Than the miracles that Jesus cannot be compared to anything in this world. That is what makes it so amazing, cause even today I have seen is works and they are so

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:6-11 ESV). Dietrich Bonhoeffer writes in Christ the Center, “Even as the risen one, Jesus Christ remains the man Jesus in time and space. Because Jesus Christ is human, he is present in time and space; because Jesus Christ is God, he is eternally…

The understanding of Jesus’ identity and his salvific work have undergone several phases. Many theologians have interpreted who Jesus is and what he did to bring salvation to humanity. Throughout the Gospels we identify elements of Jesus’ stories interpreted and communicated taking into perspective the audience and context as far as the school of Christology is concerned. This chapter is an attempt to answer Jesus’ question, “Who do you say that I am?” from the Akan worldview.…

Due to my working hours, l can’t be there when my son’s come home from school, so my wife will have them call me at work shortly after they arrive. When my son’s and I converse generally we talk about the events of their day. recently my oldest son (13) calls and tells me of a bully who has called him names and my son is asking what he should do, how should he respond? It was during this conversation that the words of Jesus from John 15 ran through my mind: 18 “If the world hates you, [e]you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.…

Jesus is God’s answer to the promises laid out in the Old Testament. Today, the majority understand that it is through his death and resurrection that we are covered, we understand that we “are called to leave behind, in the tomb of Jesus Christ, all that belongs to the brokenness and incompleteness of the present world” and to simply “follow Jesus Christ into the new world, God 's new world, which he has thrown open before us.” (Wright…

The books that I chose to read for this assignment were The Year of Living Biblically by A.J Jacobs, and The Autobiography of Malcolm X. I also chose to listen to “Letting Go of God” by Julia Sweeney. The two that I am choosing to focus on are The Year of Living Biblically and “Letting Go of God” because after reading and listening to them, I feel that there is a lot to compare and contrast and that I learned a lot in the differences in their two situations. I really enjoyed how both authors kept a little comedy in each of their stories. It kept it easy to listen to/read. If I were to listen to a woman talk about her transition to Atheism or a man’s year of living the bible literally, it would have been extremely boring.…

The stories of Jesus are represented through the four New Testament Gospels: Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. Each Gospel emphasizes on particular principles that represent Jesus differently. Jesus is seen as the suffering Messiah in all four Gospels, but each Evangelist puts in his own intake, hence expanding on the original Markan portrait of Jesus. The writers of the Gospels give their own theological assertions, and understandings, which in effect creates a new portrait of Jesus for each Gospel. The Gospel portraits vary and represent a different and evolving view of Jesus’, stories, and traditions over time.…

Jesus’ identity and purpose has been a great source of discussion and investigation through the years. Although many people do not seem to believe in the importance and legacy of His life, there are many profs and facts that show the meaning of His days physically living in our world. Jesus came to show us the correct way to live and direct our actions towards others. For example, in Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus speaks about loving one’s enemies. He mentions how important it is to love, bless and pray for those who curse, hate, use and persecute us (Matthew 5:44).…
