Jesus Identity In Barclay's The Son Of Man

Jesus’ mission is simple. He must pass through his life by serving the people he commands and die on the cross.He does this as the Son of Man . The New interpreter’s dictionary states that the Son of Man is equivalent to the Messiah. That is portraying Jesus simply, but who is Jesus really. Particularly who and what is the Son of Man. Jesus’ identity is a reasonable authoritarian and a suffering servant as derived from his title, which is “The Son of Man.” Through this his purpose is to serve his people, but also is authoritative of humankind. One of Jesus’ main roles with the title Son of Man is that he has authority. Mark 2:10 tells us the story of Jesus astoundingly healing a paralyzed man. Barclay says back then “it was their firm belief that sin and sickness were indissolubly linked together. God seemed to be the only one that could forgive sins.” Jesus then told the man that his sins were forgiven. (Mark 2:6) People were proclaiming blasphemy towards Jesus’ authority. Jesus then commanded the paralytic to get up and go home, and so the man did. The people standing around Jesus were amazed. Jesus forced the sin right out of the …show more content…
Through Jesus’ resurrection and suffering, he saves the souls of everyone on earth. In short Jesus is a suffering servant. Jesus explains that, “ The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill Him, and three days he will rise. “(Mark9:31) Jesus explains that in order to help the people of the world he must be the ultimate sacrifice. “(Mark9:31) The people he was once trying to serve take Jesus in and kill Him. This exemplifies the suffering servant aspect to the title Son of Man. Jesus is being betrayed not only by Judas, but he is also being betrayed by the whole humankind. It is ironic that he has the title of Son of Man, is being shamed and attacked by mankind themselves. He is the one suffering for mankind, but ultimately being punished for it
