Jesus Depicted In The Film, The Birth Of Jesus

Decent Essays
The film ‘The Birth of Jesus’ was a film that is based around the birth of Jesus. It was taken directly out of the Bible but was altered a bit to suite audiences and have a higher profit. The movie provides a reasonably accurate representation of the birth of Jesus. There are a few scenes that are not accurate though. For example there was a scene where Joseph is walking Mary and the donkey across the river then a snack attacks the donkey causing it to fall with Mary. Mary then is pulled down by the current but Joseph rescues her. In then end Mary sees that Joseph’ feet are extremely tired from the endless trek and Mary gives him a massage. This scene overall was just to make the movie run longer and show the unclear love between Mary and Joseph.

The film, Gospel of John¸by Philip Saville sticks to the text the entire film. It is basically word for word from the Good News Bible version. With this being said, there is not much diverging from the text. There is not a place where they diverge from the text whatsoever in the film. They do, however, tell it in a very intriguing way.…

In the Christian faith, a main belief is that Jesus died on the cross to forgive the sins of the world. That God sent His only son to the world to help save His people. Near the end of Van Biema’s article he talks about how the Jesus Seminar said that “the Resurrection of Jesus Christ was not essential to the faith; and that, in fact, the Resurrection may not have occurred at all,” . This was not surprising to hear, because the Jesus Seminar is trying to decipher what Jesus did or did not actually say. For the Jesus Seminar to believe that they have the authority to decipher whether or not Jesus truly spoke certain words, or took place in different actions should not solely be up to them.…

We never get to see the point of view from Mary’s side, so I never understood why exactly she abused her daughter, intentionally made her overweight, and allowed her father to sexual abuse her. When Mary was telling the social worker her story, I couldn’t help but cry because I legitimately felt sorry for her. She had to make a choice between her man and her daughter. That choice is a hard one that an individual should not even fathom making. I allowed myself to empathize for Mary in some scenarios because she was a victim of abuse from not only her husband but from herself as well.…

The life of Jesus Christ is one that is both fascinating and a mystery. This one man’s life is very well documented, both in words and in art. There are many questions raised if this truly happened or was a myth created to give the public hope in times of need. I am not a religious person however, I do tend to gravitate towards religious art. Many of the religious paintings I have viewed have true emotion.…

It very much stood out to me that many of the people in Joseph’s village were extremely poor, although the women wore what appeared to be decently expensive clothing. This makes me think that women were held in a higher standard than usual, although they were treated almost like slaves in that location and time period. Also, Joseph, after being very distrusting of Mary’s story of the angel, is easily convinced and gives his all in order to get Mary to Bethlehem. The argument between Joseph, Mary and Zechariah concerning whether or not Mary is telling the truth about the story of the angel is something I am yet to discover in the Biblical text. I believe this was added to the film for simple entertainment as well as clarification for the…

The stories of Jesus are represented through the four New Testament Gospels: Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. Each Gospel emphasizes on particular principles that represent Jesus differently. Jesus is seen as the suffering Messiah in all four Gospels, but each Evangelist puts in his own intake, hence expanding on the original Markan portrait of Jesus. The writers of the Gospels give their own theological assertions, and understandings, which in effect creates a new portrait of Jesus for each Gospel. The Gospel portraits vary and represent a different and evolving view of Jesus’, stories, and traditions over time.…

    1. Matthew and Luke’s birth narratives have many obvious differences when you first read them. In Luke’s account he starts off with the birth of John, but in Matthews account he starts off with traces of Joseph’s family tree. Between these two accounts they are still portraying two different point of views. If we were to try and put the birth of John from Luke’s account in Matthews account it wouldn 't really change the story that much, but it would affect the entire format of Matthews gospel.…

Throughout the years the “Passion of the Christ” movies have been used to tell the story about Christ’s death and resurrection. Then in 2004 Mel Gibson made his version of the movie and as I like to say brought it in to the 21st century with updated graphics, violence, and blood. The combination of images, faith, and history this film truly was like no other Passion of Christ movie ever done. The Passion of the Christ is a serious and deep piece of cinematography, it not just show us how much pain one man went through for us but it celebrates for the unbeliever the triumph of humanity over an absolute brutality and through this movie for all the believers of the Christian faith this movie has become a powerful reminder that we still need to…

Jesus’ identity and purpose has been a great source of discussion and investigation through the years. Although many people do not seem to believe in the importance and legacy of His life, there are many profs and facts that show the meaning of His days physically living in our world. Jesus came to show us the correct way to live and direct our actions towards others. For example, in Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus speaks about loving one’s enemies. He mentions how important it is to love, bless and pray for those who curse, hate, use and persecute us (Matthew 5:44).…
