Complete Control…
“Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowd.” Matthew 14:22 (NIV).
Today a lot of people are trying to bring their lives under full control. Control over emotions, their internal and external circumstances and even the people around them. Who do you think controls your life? Insisting to get into the boat, Jesus directs his disciples on board, knowing fully well of an impending, looming storm. Think about it, Jesus didn’t send the disciples into the storm to be malicious or mean. No, He did it to help build their faith! By doing this, Jesus also showed that He was in complete control of the storm and their lives. Outside of salvation itself,

Jealousy comes when one's focus is taken off God and put upon the world. Hebrews 13:4 states “but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” God's Word also states in I Corinthians 3:17 “if any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy.” The purity of mankind should be maintained, therefore the jealous husband was to bring her before the priest who would carry out all the law. The conflict between the Christians and the Jesus Seminar has been an ongoing struggle since 1985. The Jesus Seminar, founded by Robert Funk, originated in 1985 as around 70 biblical scholars set out to determine the legitimacy of Jesus’ sayings (Dart). The Seminar focused on the historicity of Jesus using the best methods of science and literary criticism as it pertains to the Bible. Funk believed that the gospel writers had made Jesus into a “larger than life” figure in order to satisfy their religious desires. The Jesus Seminar’s goal is to rid the historical figure of Jesus from “Christian legend and myth” and to find out who Jesus really was and what he really said (Craig).…

When my son’s and I converse generally we talk about the events of their day. recently my oldest son (13) calls and tells me of a bully who has called him names and my son is asking what he should do, how should he respond? Erzen’s work is an ethnography of individuals at “New Hope”, which she states is the oldest ex-gay organization in the United States (Erzen, 2006). Erzen excels at providing historical and social context in her writing along with her ethnographic findings, giving the reader a well-rounded basis to form their opinions from. The “ex-gay” movement is one that is widely known, with ardent supporters as well as extremely influential people opposed to the movement (Erzen, 2006). In the passage Matthew 14:22 – 33, Matthew describes the scene in which the boat housing the disciples is being fiercely beaten by the waves in the ocean. The disciples have been alone, straining at the oars and struggling against the wind and the water for hours to keep afloat and they are tired. It isn’t until the fourth watch of the night that Jesus appears to them in the middle of the sea, walking on water. The disciples are fearful and Jesus dispels any doubts they may have had by using words of reassurance. Jesus says, “It is I. Don’t be afraid”.…

They follow him some because they stand in need of healing, others because of the miracles they have seen him perform. While the multitude is making its way, Jesus arrives in Tiberias, goes up to the mountain, sits down and begins to talk with his disciples. Here is where we notice our first major difference in John’s account of this event in comparison to the other gospel writers. All the other writers talk here about Jesus having compassion on the crowd because they are like sheep with no shepherd. He takes the time to talk to the crowd and teach them many things.…
