Descriptive Essay About Jesus

We live in a world where people are beginning to doubt if this thing called Christianity is real. The wars are increasing instead of coming to an end; innocent children going to school or even standing in their living room are struck down by stray bullets, people are having a hard time because they are living pay check to pay check. Others feel they are successful because they made it on their own without any help from anyone far less Jesus. Who is Jesus that we need him in our lives when it seems nothing but chaos is surrounding us? If you ask me who Jesus is I can describe Him in so many ways. However, I would like to use one word to describe Jesus. Jesus Christ is the deliverer. He is able to deliver you from any kind of difficult situation …show more content…
This particular individual has said some things and made some threats to terminate employment and the people who work under her are walking on egg shells and are scared of what will happen. The individual has segregated the workers and hired individuals of the same race to take the jobs of those who are being alienated. Howard Thurman says, “If a man knows precisely what he can do to you or what epithet he can hurl against you in order to make you lose your temper, your equilibrium, then he can always keep you under subjection.” The individual is not only trying to intimidate others but to keep them under subjection. I noticed the people who believe in Jesus Christ are not as worried or troubled by this individual. The reason is when you have a relationship with Christ, we no longer have to fight the battles on our own. Jesus is there to step in and take full control of the situation. He is able to deliver us from the mistreatment we face. Ron Phillips says a Christian who understands his position can begin to appropriate the power of Jesus. Everything that was once over our heads is now at our feet.” Karl Barth reminds us Jesus comes forward to man on behalf of God, calling for an awakening faith, love and hope, and to God on behalf of man, representing man, making satisfaction and interceding.” In other words, it is no longer our job to worry …show more content…
There is a movement taking place to try to get minimum wages raised to twenty dollars an hour. This will help many families out tremendously. The problem is it is difficult for the workers who are underpaid to speak up for this because they may have fear of losing their jobs. On the other hand, there is a presidential candidate who is running for office and is threatening to get rid of all undocumented immigrants in the country. Once again out of fear the immigrants are going to try their best to keep a low profile to ensure nothing happens to them and they potentially go unnoticed. We serve an amazing God because he sent his Son for this reason to have a voice for the voiceless. You may say I don’t see Jesus on the picket line, but I say Jesus is calling on individuals to take a stand for these causes and encouraging them along the journey not to wither or lose sight of the goal at hand. He wants them to stand ground and not be persuaded by others until victory is proclaimed. Obery Hendricks says when Jesus is speaking through other individuals on your behalf he is confronting those in power to discredit their authority, highlight the abuse which is taking place and empower the people to rise up and join forces with other communities to demystify the power of the authorities until deliverance takes place.” We are reminded in scriptures that those who

Can you think of one thing that jesus did that didn’t have an impact on the world? Jesus says quotes like John 10:10, 11 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. I believe the most valuable person in history is Jesus.…

But precisely then we are helped by the knowledge that, in the end, we are only instruments in the Lord's hands; and this knowledge frees us from the presumption of thinking that we alone are personally responsible for building a better world. In all humility we will do what we can, and in all humility we will entrust the rest to the Lord. It is God who governs the world, not we. We offer him our service only to the extent that we can, and for as long as he grants us the strength. To do all we can with what strength we have, however, is the task which keeps the good servant of Jesus Christ always at work: “The love of Christ urges us on” (2 Cor…

Christ figures are displayed throughout literary works all the time and they help create a deeper and symbolic meaning to the story. An example of a Christ figure is in the movie Seven Pounds, where the character Ben Thomas devotes his life to helping others with illnesses. Some similarities that I found Ben shared with Christ include: 1)Ben Thomas is in agony because he regrets causing the accident that killed innocent people. 2)Ben is self-sacrificing because he helps the terminally ill and other people who actually deserve help. He donates bone marrow to a small boy and donates one of his kidneys to and older woman.…

Due to my working hours, l can’t be there when my son’s come home from school, so my wife will have them call me at work shortly after they arrive. When my son’s and I converse generally we talk about the events of their day. recently my oldest son (13) calls and tells me of a bully who has called him names and my son is asking what he should do, how should he respond? It was during this conversation that the words of Jesus from John 15 ran through my mind: 18 “If the world hates you, [e]you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.…

The Bible verse that truly touches me about Jesus’s character can be found in the book of Revelation, which stated “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” Revelation 3:20 (NKJV). My role in this is to simply answer the calling of Jesus, for it is apparent He wants to be a part of my…

The books that I chose to read for this assignment were The Year of Living Biblically by A.J Jacobs, and The Autobiography of Malcolm X. I also chose to listen to “Letting Go of God” by Julia Sweeney. The two that I am choosing to focus on are The Year of Living Biblically and “Letting Go of God” because after reading and listening to them, I feel that there is a lot to compare and contrast and that I learned a lot in the differences in their two situations. I really enjoyed how both authors kept a little comedy in each of their stories. It kept it easy to listen to/read. If I were to listen to a woman talk about her transition to Atheism or a man’s year of living the bible literally, it would have been extremely boring.…

The stories of Jesus are represented through the four New Testament Gospels: Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. Each Gospel emphasizes on particular principles that represent Jesus differently. Jesus is seen as the suffering Messiah in all four Gospels, but each Evangelist puts in his own intake, hence expanding on the original Markan portrait of Jesus. The writers of the Gospels give their own theological assertions, and understandings, which in effect creates a new portrait of Jesus for each Gospel. The Gospel portraits vary and represent a different and evolving view of Jesus’, stories, and traditions over time.…

In this essay, I will be talking about what I believe to be true from what Jesus tells us in the Bible, about being the Son of God and how He was here to die on the cross for our sins, showing everyone who He was and who ever believe in Him is save, or healed if they were sick. In this paper, I will be talking about the trustworthiness and historicity of the Gospels. The historical reliability of the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ miracles, and did Jesus claim to be God. Did his disciples believe he was God? The accuracy of the resurrection accounts in the Gospels, that is, did Jesus rise bodily from the dead?…

Through the reassurance and spreading of the awareness of the resurrection of Jesus it aids Jesus to insert himself back into the confused, grieving, and weak faith believers. Of all the heroes, Jesus made the most humble and fascinating reappearance. He humbly returns to Earth and commences to interact with the visitors, and his disciples. After the forty days Jesus masters the two worlds by returning to his Father and promises the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus influences life on Earth while maintaining his throne in…

Jesus’ identity and purpose has been a great source of discussion and investigation through the years. Although many people do not seem to believe in the importance and legacy of His life, there are many profs and facts that show the meaning of His days physically living in our world. Jesus came to show us the correct way to live and direct our actions towards others. For example, in Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus speaks about loving one’s enemies. He mentions how important it is to love, bless and pray for those who curse, hate, use and persecute us (Matthew 5:44).…
