Jesus Christ is God. As most of modern society knows, this statement is fundamental to the teachings of Christianity. Christians believe that the many prophecies of the Old Testament, such as, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel,” are all fulfilled with the coming of Jesus, giving them evidence that Jesus is God (Isaiah 7:14). For Muslims though, putting Jesus on equal standing with God is considered nothing short of heresy. However, I believe that close study of the Quran can reveal that Islam itself points to the idea that Jesus is God. Although the current view of Islam states that he was only a prophet, several verses from both the Quran and the Bible can be used to demonstrate that Jesus was not a great messenger from God but …show more content…
Jesus from the Quran molded a bird from clay and breathed life into it, proving that he as well is a source of life. The Bible and Quran both voice the opinion that there is only one God. As Isaiah states, “I am the Lord, and there is no other,” if there is only one God and both God and Jesus are seen here as a source of life then it would make sense to say that Jesus and God are one and the same (Isaiah 45:5). The numerous other miracles that Jesus performed within the Bible and the Quran also attest to this fact. Jesus says in the Quran, “And I heal the blind and the leprous, and I revive the dead, by God’s leave” (3:49). Reviving or resurrecting the dead is explicitly stated as act of God as He alone can give life. The stories of Lazarus, the daughter of Jairus, and the son of the widow at Nain in the Bible provide three specific examples of when Jesus raised people from the dead. It is impossible to give what one does not posses, so Jesus proves that he has life and that he is a giver of life through these miraculous acts of resurrection by gifting the dead with
