Teachers use many methods to teach their students, it’s a way to enable students learning, but these particular teachers have a unique way to educate their students. In the book “The Wave” by Todd Strasser, the readers meet a placid history teacher named Mr. Ross. In the article “ Freedom Writers: Truly no child left behind” by Joanne Lourier, the readers encounter a teacher named Erin Gruwell who works with the “unteachable”. In the last article, “Ex-Marine” by Sue Chastain, the readers, come upon a teacher named LouAnne Johnson who works with neurotic students. By comparing and contrasting Mr. Ross, Ms. Johnson, and Ms. Gruwell teaching style, we can evaluate the effectiveness in terms of the student interest and motivation.…
Topic: Discuss the character of the father. Parents often impose restrictions to monitor the behaviour of their children. Some tries to impose their principles and values to their children because of their own experiences. In “The Hallowe’en Party” by Miriam Waddington, the father’s changing attitude towards his children’s celebration of a foreign culture shows his love for the nature, his emotional attachment to his race, and his consideration for his children.…
Contestent Beth Charles, entered the piece above named Sweet Spring. The artist used tint in the lower third of this painting to dilute the boldness of the stems of tulips. I also think Ms. Charles used the technique known as impasto, which is a thickly applied paint. I could see this in the…

As I Lay Dying written by William Falkner was finished in a six to eight week period without any revisions while working in a power plant published in 1930. Falkner used new techniques to express his views of man’s position in modern world. In his early works, Faulkner viewed with despair man's position in the universe. He saw man as a weak creature incapable of rising above his selfish needs. Later, Falkner's view changed.…
James Agee, the author of A Death in the Family, tells the self-referential archetypal narrative about Rufus, a young intelligent boy, who loses his father, Jay, prematurely on in life. As opposed to the standard first person or third person limited point of view, the novel is told in third person omniscient. This allows the reader to fully indulge themselves within the storyline and notice the smallest elements of each character. Alongside with this, it enriches the essential stylistic devices such as imagery used within the plot. A student of literature can learn how to organize and recognize a quintessential nature setting that links back to imagery and personification from this book when read between the lines.…

The quote above refers to Alexis Rockman’s painting entitled The Farm. The artwork depicts animals such as cows, pigs, and roosters, some that look like those you would find in nature and some that appear to have be modified, in a field with rows of crops. Here, Polyxeni Potter (Potter) describes the progression in the painting from left to right of the older version of the species of “the chicken, the pig, the cow, and the mouse” (Potter, p.856) to the newer, more modern version that humans will develop. I find Potter’s statement to be accurate, though a little too gentle. I believe that on the left lie the ancestors of the species we easily recognize, and on the right lie the animals we are in the midst of creating.…
Happy Death Day deals with not only social issues but also self harm. As mentioned before, this movie has many social issues: a sorority trying to shame another girl from drinking chocolate milk, a “study” session with a married teacher behind locked doors (Anderson p. 1), but it also deals with suicide. The scene where Tree figures out her killer, she kills herself to save the guy she later falls in love with which restarts the day again. It only has mild bullying and sexual innuendoes. The bullies at the high school pick on the misfits which leads them to become friends with one another.…
In “Happy Endings” by Margaret Atwood reveals six different scenarios about two main characters named John and Mary. She begins with scenario A to show a version of a perfect fairytale story, “Section A is the most typical, uncomplicated, most unrealistic scenario that results in a happy ending.” By the end of the short story the readers can notice that the conflicts are different but the endings stay the same. The author stereotypes the two main characters by gender, causes the reader to focus on the plot and includes symbolism and irony through the short story. When people think of fairytales they imagine a princess and prince charming but that is not the case here.…
