Prior to them moving in together, Jessica was aware of Maddie’s steroid use and thus caused her to be fearful of Maddie’s temper. Jessica attempted to avoid future problems with Maddie by establishing ground rules; however, this would only be a temporary fix until Maddie snaps. Maddie was aware of her strength and takes advantage of Jessica by showing up late their meeting (showing a disrespect for Jessica’s time), ignoring Jessica by playing with her phone, and avoiding eye contact. Jessica and Maddie’s relationship problem is due to a power struggle they share.
There is a low-intensity conflict shared between the two suitemates that is due to their coercive power complex. This coercive power is the power Maddie has over Jessica because of her low temper and physical ability to inflict mass amounts of pain, both of which Jessica fears. Jessica eventually overcomes her fear of her suitemate, and thus directly addresses Maddie and her problems. Jessica was able to establish an equal power relationship by making direct

Her relationship with Caleb McDanish was never explicitly defined, and therefore no agreement was reached regarding how he could treat her. Boundary setting is key in a work relationship.
