Jesse Owens Research Paper

As he runs toward the finish line gasping for air, giving it all he got. He crosses the finish line with the crowd cheering loud and with a new gold medal and with a new world record. Jesse Owens had to go through a lot of ups and downs to get to where he is today. Jesse had to go through collage, track and field, and then he finally made it to Hitler’s Olympics.

Jesse Owens was born on September 12, 1913, in Oakville, Alabama. Jesse Owens had a very hard childhood, his family was very poor. Owens was often very sick from his battles with chronic bronchial congestions and pneumonia. Since Jesse was little he always wanted to go to college. After passing a series of exams that summer to qualify him to enter college, Owens stated classes at OSU in the fall of 1933. Jesse owns had to work really hard to get into college. He eventually got into Ohio State University, and he had very good grades and was a kind student to everyone. Jesse Owens was creating new records and was soon known as the “Buckeye Bullet” (Jesse Owens Long Jump video). Jesse Owens was the first black man to join the Ohio State University. Although he was the first black man, Jesse Owens got elected to be the captain of the Ohio State University. Because of the color of his skin Owens was barred from living on the campus dormitory. Jesse Owens didn’t let that stop him, he worked and was one of the hardest workers on the team (Jesse Owens long jump
