Jesse Owens was born on September 12, 1913, in Oakville, Alabama. Jesse Owens had a very hard childhood, his family was very poor. Owens was often very sick from his battles with chronic bronchial congestions and pneumonia. Since Jesse was little he always wanted to go to college. After passing a series of exams that summer to qualify him to enter college, Owens stated classes at OSU in the fall of 1933. Jesse owns had to work really hard to get into college. He eventually got into Ohio State University, and he had very good grades and was a kind student to everyone.
